Travel insurance for people with an ICD is a complex issue and one that does not have a simple answer because of other medical conditions that may exist. Most companies who will at least consider covering an ICD recipient will often refer to specialist medical staff who will do a telephone interview for them. One golden rule in Travel Insurance is to shop around and carefully examine what is and is not covered by the policy. The following list of Travel Insurance companies, who will at least consider offering a quotation, has been gleaned from various sources including the Association of British Insurers. I have verified that as of mid February 2009, telephone numbers and web addresses are correct.
If you are booking a package holiday, you can of course try their own Travel Insurance offerings, however you may get a better deal if you shop around.
We cannot offer any particular recommendations from the list however we would welcome any feedback on your experiences with particular Travel Insurance companies, both positive and negative.
